EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

The curriculum at the Imagine Romig Road Community School will;

  1. Utilize Direct Instruction (DI) to support literacy development in grades K- 2 (3), with principal and staff discretion determining the need to extend DI to the intermediate level until students demonstrate proficiency in literacy skills.
  2. Use a Balanced Literacy approach- Guided Reading and Writing- that will generally begin at grade 3.
  3. Use Saxon Math, where all concepts are presented incrementally- in small, easily learned bit- and an increment is practiced many times before the next increment of that concept is presented.
  4. Use Full Option Science System (FOSS) investigations that are guided by questions that students pursue answering. Each module requires students to freely explore the materials, followed by a discussion of their discoveries. Each module also requires students to actively engage in hands-on experiences with objects, organisms, and systems, using a multi-sensory approach, working in collaborative groups, and synthesizing ideas and concepts through group dialogue and debate.
